Tuesday Tutorial: Long Tail Cast On, 2 Ways

Happy Tutorial Tuesday!

Today, I’ve got a video showing you two different ways to do the Long Tail Cast On.  This is one of the most versatile cast ons, and I use it for 90% of my knitting.  In the video, I’ll show you both the thumb method (which I usually teach), and the slingshot method (which many prefer).

I hope you have been enjoying Tuesday tutorials so far!  I’m planning to take some time in the new year to film more knit basics, for those just learning, or wanting to learn how to knit!

In the meantime, tell me, do you use one of these methods to cast on?  If not, what’s your favorite cast on?  Leave a comment to share!

Happy Knitting!

P.S.  Did you hear??  I’m in the home stretch finishing up my e-book “End The Stash Struggle.”  It will be launching in late February, but by popular request I’m opening up the pre-sale one more time!  Now through January 15th, you can get in on the $20 pricing, and have the option to get your book early, and participate in test knitting if you’d like!  Head over to www.stitchspaceyarn.com/stashbook to take advantage of this offer!

    Hi Sasha,
I use the thumb method of casting on. I have tried it the other way but I tend to get the yarn twisted and the base of the cast on doesn’t look as neat.

I have had the twisting trouble, too Sheryl! I also think I really like the step-by-step feeling of the thumb method 🙂
