Stitch Space Knitting Classes

Stitch Space offers Knitting & Crochet classes for beginners, but did you know we have project classes, too?  These are perfect for stepping up your skills, learning a specific technique, or for getting started on a specific project.  Here are some details on what we are offering the rest of the Summer!

Start a Short Row Shawl

In this class, we will get started knitting on the Happy Street Shawl by Veera Valimaki.  We’ll cover the techniques of wrap & turn short rows, yarn over increases, and even learn a bind off to keep your projects from being too tight along the bound off edge.  The class is one session and costs $30.

It is being offered either Thursday June 27th, Saturday July 20th, or Wednesday August 21st.  Click here for class times, and details!

Here’s a photo of my Happy Street Shawl.  I ended mine a little early to make it smaller, and used Spud & Chloe Fine.  Love the color pop!

Stripe Hat

In this class, we are making a Stripe Hat using Amy Miller’s Epirts Pattern.  You can learn how to knit in the round, make jogless stripes (so there’s no obvious join), and do decreases.  The class is two sessions and costs $40.

It is being offered either Wednesdays July 10 & 24, or Fridays August 9 & 23.  Click here for class times, and details!

Here’s how the finished hat turns out.  You can use 2 or 3 colors, and mine is knitted in Blue Sky Alpacas Sport Weight & Melange.  Super soft, and makes a great gift knit!

Cabled Fingerless Mitts

Fetching by Cheryl Niamath is one of my favorite all time patterns, and it’s perfect for learning and practicing to make cables!  The fingerless mitts take a small amount of yardage, and you will get practice working in the round on double points, making cables, and an afterthought thumb.  The class is two sessions and costs $40.

It is being offered either Fridays July 12 & 19, or Thursdays August 1 & 8.  Click here for class times, and details!

This is the finished product!  I used Malabrigo Silky Merino on this mitt.  Once you get the hang of it, you can whip these up really fast for gifts, and to match all your coats come fall!

Ladies Classic Raglan Pullover

We are also offering a 4 session workshop on making a basic sweater.  This class meets over the course of 4 months, and goes from measuring & swatching correctly, all the way through each construction step of the sweater.  We’ll use Jane Richmond’s Classic Raglan Pullover which is a great timeless design.  You can see pictures of it here on!  We have some great sweater yarns to choose from so you can make it in your favorite color and fiber!

This class will meet on the last Saturday of the month from July to October and costs $80.  Finish it up just in time for Fall!  Click here for class times, and details!

Class Policies & Information:

We do require class signups to be made at least a day in advance, so we can plan accordingly.  We limit the class size to 6 students, so we can make sure there is plenty of help for everyone in the class!

The full class fee is due at the time of enrollment, and we would be happy to take this over the phone if you can’t make it to the shop.  Just give us a call during business hours at (417) 673-2240!

If you need to cancel, or change dates, please give us 48 hours notice, so we can notify a student on the wait-list!

Yarn used for classes must be purchased at the shop, but you will receive 10% off the purchase.  We do not require that you purchase new needles for your class, as we understand many knitters already have the size they need at home.  You can, however, use that 10% off on your needles, too, should you choose to!

Can’t make it to one of our scheduled classes, or would like to cover a technique you don’t see?  Give us a call, or stop by and we can chat about a private lesson.  These are available for $25 and hour, and we’d be happy to see if we can work something out!

That’s all for now!  I’m looking forward to seeing many of you in classes this summer!  Feel free to join us anytime for our Tuesday Night Stitch Night from 6-8 PM!  When it gets too hot to be outside, you can bet we will have the AC going 🙂
