Sasha Ball Rives has been pursuing all things creative since childhood. She learned to sew and crochet at a young age and has been knitting for over 10 years. Her love of clothing led her to a degree in Fashion Merchandising, and experience working in wholesale showrooms and for companies like Toms Shoes, Victoria’s Secret, and independent boutiques. After gaining fashion industry experience in retail, wholesale, visual merchandising, and event planning, Sasha was recruited to teach temporarily at her alma mater, Pittsburg State University. There, she taught Fashion Merchandising, Textiles & Buying for 3 years. Realizing she was “doomed to be self-employed,” after growing up with parents who were entrepreneurs themselves, she took some time back on the family farm to regroup and figure out her next career move.
It was in this time that knitting became Sasha’s obsession, and she noticed there was a unique opportunity in the four-states area for a yarn shop. She missed having a shop locally and thought surely others felt the same. After research, planning, and networking, Stitch Space was created to fill that void, and offer a unique community and shopping experience for knitters, crocheters, and other fiber-loving individuals. The shop featured a culmination of all of Sasha’s experience, and combined her love of teaching, knitting, visual merchandising, and retail management.
After three and a half wonderful years, the Stitch Space local shop has closed. Sasha is now busy designing patterns, writing, sharing tutorials, and continuing the Yarn Year Round club as an online store. She is also helping her friend Amy in growing her amazing brand Knit Collage.
A true renaissance soul, she has added to her ever-expanding hobbies with a 20X40 foot flower garden that her husband Matt seems to think is a bit excessive. It is adding to her happily ever after where she lives in the middle of nowhere Missouri with Matt and their three cats.
